Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We are private pay. While we do not accept insurance, we do provide receipts/superbills so that you may contact your insurance company directly to access “out of network” benefits if applicable. We also accept HSA (Health Savings Accounts) cards when processing payments as well.

How do I start services?

We strive to make this process as easy as possible.  Simply reach out to us via email or phone, or complete the Contact Us form on our website, and we will take care of the rest.  We offer 15 minute phone consultations at no charge to determine your counseling needs. All inquiries are responded to within 48 hours, excluding weekends.

How often are sessions scheduled?

Everyone’s needs are different, therefore the frequency of sessions varies.  The majority of our clients are seen weekly or every other week. That being said, session frequency is based on your specific needs and will be something you will discuss with your counselor at your intake session.

Do you only work with children and families?

Though the counselors at Thread Counseling Group have extensive additional training and certifications in play therapy and working with minors, they have both received ample training in working with adults as well. Moreover, we love working across the lifespan and believe that our extensive training in play therapy has improved our practice with adults.

As a parent, how can I expect to be involved in my child’s counseling?

When working with children/teens, parent consultations are a part of the counseling process.  The frequency of these consultations will vary, but as a general guideline, we meet with parents every 3-5 sessions. Of course, as things come up and you need to communicate with us, that guideline varies. As moms, it is of the utmost importance to us that you feel included in the process of your child’s counseling.

How can I share my experience?

While most issues between client and clinician can be addressed directly, some situations could require escalation. In compliance with the State of Texas, we have provided information below to assist your pursuit of a report, if you should find yourself in such a situation.

Alternatively, many have had wonderful experiences with their clinician and would like to show support for our practice. Google reviews may be left for Thread Counseling Group here.
